All starter kits featured in this blog work best with nic salt vape juice, or any traditional freebase vape juice that is mixed to a 50VG/50PG ratio. 50/50 juices are just the right thickness for a starter vape kit and will produce minimal vape clouds with a satisfying throat hit. Most of the time nic salt e-liquid is featured in 5mg, 10mg, and 20mg, whereas traditional freebase juice is found in 3mg, 6mg, 12mg, 18mg. Some brands we'd recommend to beginner vapers are Elfliq, Bar Juice, and TAOV Basics. All of their juices pair perfectly with any kit listed above.
The nicotine strength you choose will be completely dependent on the amount of cigarettes you smoke, or how many disposable vapes you go through per week. Here's a handy list to help you decide the nicotine strength you need.
- 1-5 cigarettes a day - 3mg-5mg
- 5-15 cigarettes a day - 5mg-12mg
- 15+ cigarettes a day - 18mg-20mg
This is a rough guide and everyone will have a different preference. Remember, you can always adjust your nicotine strength up or down depending on if the cravings are persistent.
Battery SIze
If you're wondering how long a starter kit will last in regards to battery life, most starter vape kits have a maximum battery size of 1000mAh. This means the vape will last on average 2 days without charging. This factor obviously changes depending on how often you vape. The more you vape, the quicker the battery will go down.
Pods/Coils
On average a vape pod or coil will last around 1 week before needing to be changed. The main factors that affect the coil lifespan is the type of vape juice used as well as the amount of puffs taken on the vape. Any juice that is quite sweet or dessert based will end up gunking up the coils before a menthol or tobacco juice would. It's good to keep this in mind when picking your next vape juice.
Kit Lifespan
Most starter kits are just that, basic vape kits intended to help you enter the world of vaping and transition smoothly from tobacco. Because of this, starter kits usually have an overall lifespan of 6 months to 2 years when being continuously used. Depending on how often it's cleaned, charged (and dropped!) will have a big impact on the predicted lifespan of the vape kit. By the time you're ready to get a new kit there may just be a new exciting starter kit or intermediate kit to look at so don't consider the death of your vape as a bad thing.
If you're a smoker then you'll 100% save money when switching to vaping, especially choosing one of our handpicked starter kits from this list. There's a significant cost benefit when picking up a starter vape. Considering a packet of 20 cigarettes are now coming in at a whopping average of £15.50, there's more urgency now than ever to switch to vaping. You can get a whole vape kit with pods and juice for less than 20 cigarettes! The ongoing price the average vaper (people who smoked around 10 cigarettes a day) is around £25-30 per month. That's a huge saving whether you smoke pre-rolled cigarettes or rolling tobacco. You'll definitely save money vaping whether you realise it straight away or not.
Of course! Simply fill up your vape kit with a different flavour when the vape pod is empty and puff away. Most of the time you'll only get a few puffs of the old flavour and you'll simply be able to enjoy the new flavour after. There are some instances where it's not recommended to fill up your pod with a different flavour unless it's a fresh pod or coil.
The juice flavours that are okay to mix together are:
Fruit then Menthol
It's not surprising that fruit and menthol juices run well after each other in a vape pod or tank, they've been paired together ever since modern vaping became popular. Just remember that if the menthol juice came first you may still get a small menthol hit until you change the coil. Menthol tends to linger in the cotton of the pod
Fruit then Dessert
It's much better to put a dessert flavoured vape juice in your pod as the last juice, not the first. Dessert juices can be super overpowering compared to other types of juice and the flavour never usually leaves the cotton. This is okay if you're putting the dessert in after, however if you put it in first you'll always have the ice-cream cake lingering behind your blueberry sour raspberry!
Just remember that menthol juices and dessert juices can be quite over powering. They easily overpower fruity e-liquid as well as tobacco e-liquid so make sure if you're wanting to use a menthol or dessert juice that its in a new pod or last in line.
