Disposable vapes have been banned in the UK for a few reasons; the impact on the environment, underage use, and the health of people who vape who'd never smoked. You can read more on why the Government have decided to ban disposable vapes by clicking here.
The Government decided on the 1st of June 2025 after months of deliberation that the entire UK will be prohibited from selling (or keeping stock of) disposable vapes. This nationwide ban of disposable vapes will affect every retailer; vape shops, garages, convenience stores, supermarkets, and any other place selling disposable vapes.
No, the disposable vape ban covers all areas of retail, both online and in-person. Any business found selling disposable vapes on or after the 1st of June 2025 can receive a fixed penalty or further prosecution.
You may still see some vapes labled as 'disposable' or vapes you used to purchase under a disposable vape catogory, however they are usually pre-filled pod kits. This means the pod can be removed and changed and the device can be recharged. An excellent example of this is the PIXL Duo 12 kit. Although technically you can dispose of them, they are able to be recharged, as well as the pods being interchangeable.
After the 1st of June 2025, only vapes which are both rechargeable and refillable will be available in the UK. This includes refillable pod kits, vape tanks, vape mods, and pre-filled pod kits. If you cannot charge your current vape and cannot change the pod or coil, it will be banned for sale. You can stock up on disposable vapes until this date, however they won't be for sale after.
As disposable vapes are being banned in the UK, many people are worried about shelling out money for a reusable vape. Reusable vapes range in price, you don't need to spend more than you'd like to get a good quality reusable vape. There are three main types of reusable vape:
This type of reusable kit is usually the cheapest upfront cost. They usually range from around £6-£15. They usually come with the battery (the device) and one pre-filled pod. These pods can range from 600 puffs to 7000 puffs depending on the kit.
Most vape kits nowadays fit into this category. They range from around £10-£30. They usually include the battery (the device), an empty pod(s), and a charging cable. You'll need to purchase replacement pods or coils and e-liquid. This type of kit has a higher upfront cost, however costs less per puff in the long run.
Although not as common anymore, this type of reusable vape is robust and still used by many people. It's made up of a box mod and a seperate tank that screws on to the mod. Purchasing a vape set-up like this will cost more and requires more maintenance. However, you'll only new coils and juice, making the ongoing cost quite cheap. These kits tend to last a lot longer, and are more suited to intermediate vapers.
